Odds and Ends

By kate on April 23rd, 2004

First, I finally updated my website! There isn’t very much exciting, especially if you read this journal and generally know what’s going on with me. But, just in case you’re interested, you can start at my What’s New page.

Also, here’s a little something to light up your day: http://www.ibiblio.org/jmaynard/TRONcostume/

Hooray for updates! I like. Also, and this is purely a heads-up/no-big-deal kind of comment, but when I load the nutshell page the text becomes more and more misaligned between the two tables. Weird.

You mean, the more you press reload, the weirder it looks? Or just the page gets worse as you go down?

    What browser are you using?

  3. petit_chou Says:

As I go down. I’ll email you a jpg of it shortly (printscreen).

    I’m running Windows XP, IE 6.0, 1024 X 768.

PS – If I had to guess, I’d think it was a font size issue — line spacing due to a bolded and a non-bolded font. Not sure though.

Further, now that you’ve figured out it’s a default font issue, when I go to your page I can’t seem to find the link to download the fonts you use. Did you take that down?

  6. girlkate Says:

Yeah, I took it down. Wanna know why? I got a nasty/smarmy email from a guy who works for Adobe, basically saying that he was friends with the guys at Monotype, who own that font and wouldn’t it be unfortunate if they found out I was distributing their font for free?

Unpleasant. But when I answered with a carefully crafted somewhat nasty (but witty) response he did reply with a sense of humor. So I didn’t hold it against him too much… seeing as the font is copyrighted and all.

I think today I’m going to look through the commonly available web fonts and change my style sheet to not use my special fonts any more (much as I like them). Again, I appreciate you motivating me to take care of this. 🙂
