The Bay of Islands
Before we left New Zealand, Steve and I took a weekend trip up to a town called Paihia, in the very north of the country (the same place I went with Zach). Instead of driving ourselves as usual, we took a bus tour with Kiwi Experience, a heavily-promoted and popular backpacker transport. I wasn't crazy about it, to be honest. You don't have the freedom of your own vehicle, and the people that go on Kiwi Experience are either real party animals or shy lone travellers.While there, we took a sailing trip in the Bay of Islands. It was a gorgeous day, and we spent all day on the boat: sailing around, stopping on little islands, and snorkelling.
