You know you’re loved when…

By kate on November 10th, 2004

… you come home tired and late from aerial practice, only to be served fat, fresh (and still warm) gingerbread cookies with homemade pear sauce.

Rankism

By kate on June 25th, 2004

This is an interesting website, about the idea of rankism. More basic than racism or homophobia, rankism is seeing yourself as above another person, and acting accordingly.
On another topic, here are a couple of photos of me taken during the Fremont 5K that I think are pretty good.

I’m behind

By kate on May 24th, 2004

So much has happened lately, and I’ve been remiss in updating.
On Mother’s Day weekend, Steve and I had a little trouble with Canadian Customs at the border. We were bringing up some antique dishes and cups his mother had bought on eBay, and they turned out to be worth more than we thought. We brought […]

An inquisitive mind wants to know

By kate on April 2nd, 2004

I realized something that is probably what keeps me from getting closer to new friends… I’m not nosy enough.

How else do you get close to someone other than spilling your guts to them? And if a friend asked me nosy questions, I generally wouldn’t mind and would most likely answer. But I hesitate to […]

My Second Marriage Proposal

By someone else on June 22nd, 2001

It was a pretty nice day, sunny and warm, and I didn’t really have any more preparations to make, so I decided I would do it. Under the pretext of showing you the city, we made plans to do some driving that evening. I had the ring already - in a design that symbolized how […]

Show Some Damn Courtesy

By kate on November 17th, 1999

What the hell is wrong with people? I’m feeling down on humanity in general at the moment, and here’s why. There is one simple thing that I do for the benefit of others, and I expect others to do for me. This is it:
Do what you said you were going to do, or let me […]

Bitter Complaints About My Lot in Life

By kate on July 29th, 1998

Somehow I have been cursed in my life, somehow I have been doomed to always be The Person Who Organizes Things. When there is some group activity, I always end up being the person who drives the planning. Let me make perfectly clear that I don’t choose to do this. It’s just that if I […]

A True Story

By someone else on September 1st, 1997

I feel obliged to bring up running into a girl named Kate during my quarter at the UW. I’d originally met her in high school through Thespians, she graduated a year ahead of me, and had dated B**** for most of her senior year. Despite all that, I’d never gotten to know her. I’d always […]

Advice from my Dad

By someone else on January 15th, 1997

The things that I think are important at this point in your career are:

developing an expertise, and
stability of employment.

You need to develop an expertise that can be transferred to other companies if you so choose in the future or you always start at the bottom, or entry level. You need to […]

My First Marriage Proposal

By someone else on November 6th, 1996

Okay I’m just a freshman at a very conservative university in west Texas (Abilene Christian University), and I know you are in the big time out in Seattle but I realy think it could work. I was born in Arlington Texas; you were born in Arlington Ohio…coincidence…I think not. We could go to Vegas; […]

Everything

By someone else on June 15th, 1996

I want a comrade, someone who is thoroughly interested in getting their hands messy on my insides, and who craves for me to do the same, someone who knows themselves well, and so realizes that they have only just begun the journey of getting to know themselves, someone with the kind of intense intelligence that […]

How to be Happy

By someone else on October 1st, 1994

We can call ourselves “Partners in Sin”. I’ll need your help thinking of creative and fun ways to be a sinner. Kinky sex would be a start, I think, along with living together, shirking debt, and evading “responsibility” by running away together to Newark, New Jersey to hawk pork-o-dogs to busy commuters, kissing […]
