Moisture Festival - quick update
By kate on April 4th, 2005
I don’t have much time to write, but our performance on Saturday at the Moisture Festival burlesque night went swimmingly. The crowd really seemed to enjoy it.
NOTE: If you’re planning to come to any of the Moisture Festival shows next weekend, I highly recommend you get your tickets ASAP. Both shows on Saturday (8pm & […]

This ‘n that
By kate on March 8th, 2005
Damn LiveJournal for eating the longer version of this post! Now, I only feel like posting the basics:
1. After staying home sick all week and watching lots of TV, I found that Degrassi: The Next Generation is as enjoyable as its predecessor (Degrassi Junior High).
2. The Aerialistas will be performing 4 or 5 times at […]

Aerial photos
By kate on January 6th, 2005
One day I’d like to write more about how amazing it was to perform in our aerial shows last month… but in the meantime, check out our fledgling website (click on the pictures link at the bottom).

Aerial show tomorrow and Thursday!
By kate on December 29th, 2004
It’s finally here - my aerial show opens tomorrow night. We had a successful dress rehearsal today, so I can assure you the show is going to be great.
The basics:
Wed, Dec. 29 and Thur, Dec. 30th
Seattle Center House
7pm (band starts) / 7:30pm (show starts)
The Seattle Center has really been promoting it. We were on UPN […]

Upcoming aerial performances
By kate on December 8th, 2004
I’ve been a little hesitant to publicize the upcoming performances of my aerial group, the Aerialistas, because it still feels a little like a dream that will vanish if I pinch myself. Nonetheless, our shows are approaching rapidly, so here are the details:
1. Moisture Festival Fundraiser, Saturday Dec. 11. We’re doing our rope number only, […]

Yesterday, the UW Daily [link no longer available] had an article about my aerial troupe, including quotes from and a picture of me!

A couple of pictures
By kate on November 2nd, 2004
My first aerial performance was a lot of fun, despite hitches such as going on an hour and a half later than expected and not being in sync because we couldn’t hear the music. It was a decent start, and most of all we looked good….

In the middle of my rope-climbing

First aerial performance
By kate on October 19th, 2004
A few months ago, I started taking aerial classes with Lara from Circus Contraption. I just took to it and it turns out I can pick that stuff up pretty fast. Maybe sometime I’ll write more about what a revelation it’s been to find a physical activity that I’m naturally good at, not to mention […]

Rankism
By kate on June 25th, 2004
This is an interesting website, about the idea of rankism. More basic than racism or homophobia, rankism is seeing yourself as above another person, and acting accordingly.
On another topic, here are a couple of photos of me taken during the Fremont 5K that I think are pretty good.

100% Stickler
By kate on June 21st, 2004
Grammar Quiz. Not to brag… OK, to brag a little, I got 100%.
In other news, Steve and I ran the Fremont Fun Run, a 5K race, on Friday evening. I came in at just under 26 minutes, which was a whole minute faster than I expected. I was very pleased (and very exhausted).
I arranged a […]

A lot of running
By kate on June 1st, 2004
This Saturday, Steve and I did the North Seattle Street Scramble. It’s one of those races where you need to get to checkpoints and then back to the finish in a given amount of time. The twist in the Street Scramble is that there are more checkpoints than you could possibly get to, so each […]

Team name idea
By kate on April 16th, 2004
Last night, while playing soccer, I came up with a good idea for a team name: 9/10 (or you could write it out: Nine-Tenths).
Why?
From the saying, “Possession is nine-tenths of the law.” A good thing to keep in mind during a game where possession is so important.

How’s my eye?
By kate on February 21st, 2004
If you weren’t there and don’t know about it already, I got hit in the face with a soccer ball last night at our game. It was a hard kick straight from an opponent’s foot into my right eye. I was helped off the field and spent the last 15 minutes of the game in […]
