Duh
By kate on April 29th, 2004
It took me longer than it should have to learn that pressing on the top of the yogurt when trying to peel back the foil lid makes it explode.
I think I’ve learned it now, though.

Odds and Ends
By kate on April 23rd, 2004
First, I finally updated my website! There isn’t very much exciting, especially if you read this journal and generally know what’s going on with me. But, just in case you’re interested, you can start at my What’s New page.
Also, here’s a little something to light up your day: http://www.ibiblio.org/jmaynard/TRONcostume/

What I’m Up To
By kate on April 22nd, 2004
I’m still enjoying my job, which has a core of tech support, but since I have a number of different skills, I’m always getting to do projects for various people in the company, so I have lots of variety. I’m also in charge of the company’s CRM system, so I get to […]

Why Do You Do It?
By kate on April 22nd, 2004
I’ve been thinking lately about the reasons for maintaining a personal website, mostly because I’ve let my (very nice and well-made) site get hideously stagnant. I hadn’t updated it at all in over a year, even though the guilt hung heavily.
It made me reflect on the changing reasons for having a personal website.
I […]

Hair Update
By kate on April 22nd, 2004
Some of my principal excitement in the last year has been about what I’ve done with my hair. For a while in 2002-2003, my hair was long and blue. However, eventually I got tired of the upkeep (blue fades quickly) and how the bleach was wrecking my hair.
So, I took it […]

Team name idea
By kate on April 16th, 2004
Last night, while playing soccer, I came up with a good idea for a team name: 9/10 (or you could write it out: Nine-Tenths).
Why?
From the saying, “Possession is nine-tenths of the law.” A good thing to keep in mind during a game where possession is so important.

Seminal Soundtracks (in no particular order)
Pump Up The Volume
Pi
South Park - Bigger, Longer & Uncut
Natural Born Killers
The Little Mermaid
Rent (disc one […]

Picture crazy
By kate on April 7th, 2004
My boss happened to ask me the other day what my MSN or AOL messenger ID was. Bad idea. I had an MSN one, but never signed in at work before. I downloaded and installed the most recent version, which allows you to have a “Display Picture” that is shown as you chat with someone. […]

I’m just full of things to share today
By kate on April 5th, 2004
I’ve long been jealous of smokers and their smoke breaks. It’s such a good idea to take little 5- or 10-minute breaks during the day to step outside. But I’m not a smoker, and it’s weird to do so without a cigarette, or anything to give you a reason to be there.
So I came up […]

Hi bandwagon, I’m Kate
By kate on April 5th, 2004
A lot of journalers like to do that thing where they pass around these sets of questions and all answer them, as a way of sharing about themselves. I haven’t been motivated to do one before, but I saw the one below in yruugrrl’s journal today and found the questions a particularly intriguing slice-of-life. So, […]

An inquisitive mind wants to know
By kate on April 2nd, 2004
I realized something that is probably what keeps me from getting closer to new friends… I’m not nosy enough.
How else do you get close to someone other than spilling your guts to them? And if a friend asked me nosy questions, I generally wouldn’t mind and would most likely answer. But I hesitate to […]
